The Senior Analyst will actively participate in supervising and developing a team of Financial Analysts who are responsible for providing analytical support to all Genting Americas’ properties and departments. In this role the Senior Analyst will supervise the analysts and ensure proper execution of routine analyses/reports (40% of team’s workload) and play an active role in management strategy meetings and provide analytical insight that helps in the strategic decision making process (60% of the workload). The analyst will be expected to execute on the VP of P&A’s vision with regards to the group’s structure, quality/quantity of work, and team members’ training and development. Further, the analyst will play an active role in conducting analyses and be willing and able to shoulder the team’s workload as needed.
Essential Duties
Ideal candidates are expected to demonstrate the following skill sets:
Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, Intermediate knowledge of MS Access/SQL: As the application is utilized in publishing detailed financial statements, the analyst is expected to be familiar with relational databases and be willing to expand upon that knowledge.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills: The analyst must be able to succinctly explain his/her thoughts and ask probing questions in the context of understanding the type of analytical insight needed to make strategic decisions. As a follow up, the analyst should be able to effectively explain P&A’s position in the debate and get buy-in.
Delegation of duties and team development: The analyst is expected to be the main interface between junior analysts and the management team. As a result, all the work will channel through him or her. The analyst should be able to delegate duties to analysts in light of interest, skill, and workload and be the primary party with a bird’s eye view of all requested analyses and ensure proper vetting and conclusion both in terms of content and presentation. Additionally, the analyst is expected to structure work for the team so that its participants are challenged and have an open line of communication with them with regards to professional development.
Job Requirements
Physical and Mental
Ability to sit for extended periods of time as necessary to complete job assignments and job duties. Ability to work on a PC. The individual may occasionally be asked to work a flexible schedule to include nights and weekends. Ability to lift 10 lbs. Required to understand and communicate and follow directions both verbally and in written English.
Work/Educational Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Statistics, Math or related area with a quantitative emphasis required
Advanced Degree in Accounting, Finance, Statistics, Math or related area with a quantitative emphasis preferred
Minimum five (5) years’ work experience conducting detailed statistical or data analysis required
Five (5) years of progressive work experience in Financial Planning & Analysis/Management Consulting/Corporate Strategy or Development
Demonstrated ability to lead a team through prior work experience
Experience (4+ years) preparing budgets and monthly financial reports
Experience (4+ years) with financial statement analysis methodologies
Expert knowledge of statistical analysis techniques and methods, with the ability to build models using retrieved data
An understanding of the gaming industry is preferred
Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Previous experience with MS Access, SQL, Business Intelligence and/or SAP is required
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Must be friendly, outgoing, congenial and a team player
Minimum 21 years old and have the ability to obtain appropriate license pursuant to the NY State Lottery regulations.
