JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Chef or in their absence the Sous Chef, the Steward’s primary responsibility is to operate the dishwashing machine. The Steward/dishwasher is responsible for cleaning duties as well as helping the cooks with the kitchen prep as directed.

Description of principle tasks
Operational
Operate dish machine including loading racks with dishes, pots, pans etc
Load and unload racks of dishes, stacking dishes and putting away
Help polish cutlery, glasses and coffee cups
Put away deliveries and storing properly using the first in first out method when they arrive
Check the quantity and quality of deliveries.
Take out the garbage, compost and recycling
Clean of walk-in fridge, small fridges
Abide by sanitation, Health and Safety practices and follow standards and regulations.
Sweep and mop the kitchen as well as back hallway and walk-in fridge
Assist the kitchen team as needed
Other work related tasks as per manager’s request
Position Requirements
Able to stand/walk for up to 5 hours at a time, lift/carry/push supplies or equipment
weighing up to 50 lbs
Able to work independently and as part of a team
Must have a flexible schedule
Able to work under pressure
Understanding of current Food Hygiene and Health & Safety requirements
Working hours
Shift work based on weekly schedules (days, evenings, nights, weekdays and weekends)
