An incredible opportunity for a dynamic and resourceful Head Guide to join the team at Angama Amboseli, a new safari lodge located in Kimana Sanctuary, Amboseli, opening this November. We are seeking an individual who is not only passionate about the wild and sharing it with others, but also embodies the warm & gracious spirit of Kenyan hospitality, and can bring out the best from a team of storytellers. As the Head Guide, you will lead the delivery of unforgettable safari experiences for Angama Amboseli guests. You are also required to embody our brand values of Ubuntu, Respect, Honesty, Courage, and Joy while inspiring excellence and achieving outstanding results.
Key Responsibilities:
− Exemplify the role of a world-class safari guide by delivering exceptional safari experiences for guests, in line with the Angama Way
− Prioritize guest safety and privacy, upholding all protocols and regulations with unwavering commitment
− Lead and inspire a strong team of guides, empowering them to become leaders within the broader team and actively supporting them in all departmental initiatives
− Coordinate and communicate effectively with other departments to deliver a seamless, high-touch experience for safari experiences
− Engage in pre and post-safari storytelling, captivating guests in our guest areas and ensuring their experience is enriched with tales of wonder
− Oversee the management of all guiding equipment and related stock, including vehicle care and annual budgets
− Actively contribute as a member of the lodge leadership team, collaborating with colleagues to drive success and create a harmonious work environment
− Inspire conservation leadership and act as a liaison between Angama Amboseli and Big Life Conservancy, forging strong relationships and actively engaging in joint initiatives
− Maintain and develop cost-effective operations and procedures, prioritising the safety and protection of all guests, staff, property, and equipment
− Design and develop a diverse range of safari activities, including game drives, guided walks, birdwatching, and night drives, catering to various interests and preferences
− Collaborate with external partners, such as community representatives or conservancy guides, to offer specialised activities or cultural interactions that deepen guests’ understanding of the local environment and traditions, thereby enhancing guest delight

− Passionate and Knowledgeable: You possess an authentic passion for the wild, coupled with comprehensive knowledge of ecological themes, flora, and fauna identification, particularly in Amboseli and the Maasai Mara.

Key qualifications:
− Minimum of 5 years of experience as a guide at a high-end property or organisation, with a proven track record of delivering exceptional guest experiences.
− Possession of a KPSGA Professional Silver Level Badge or equivalent.
− Valid PSV and TSV license and a clean driving record.
