Assistant Director of Finance

Responsibilities:

Assist the Area Director of Finance in enforcing the systems of internal controls
Assist the Area Director of Finance in the preparation of annual budget and forecasting
Be responsible for and accountable for the departmental operating budget
Oversee the Accounting department activities to ensure optimal efficiency and performance of department
Direct and supervise Accounting department employees, including accounts payable, general cashier, income audit
Oversee accounts receivable and payable activities to ensure accurate record of information according to generally accepted accounting principles and established guidelines
Perform general ledger review
Coordinate month end closing, prepare all required journal entries, perform analytical reviews of Financial Statements and explains any variances from budget
Monitor departmental internal control and create and implement operating procedures as necessary
Ensure that Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group accounting policies are strictly adhered to
Perform special projects to meet Corporate needs on an ongoing basis
Coordinate the reconciliation of bank accounts, balance sheets and fixed asset accounting operations
Ensure proper and timely payment of fees for licenses, permits, regulatory contracts and insurance policies
Approve, as needed, purchase orders, invoices, payroll submittals, manual checks, balance sheet and bank reconciliations, month end journal entries, bad debt write off’s and inter and intra-company billing
Evaluate direct reports’ performance, determine areas for improvement or requirements for advancement, establish goals, objectives and training needs required
Perform any other reasonable duties as required by the department head from time to time
Requirements:

Degree holder in Accounting, Finance or related disciplines with professional accounting qualifications
Minimum 5 years’ relevant working experience in a sizeable luxury hotel with at least 3 years in a similar capacity
Possess strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
Proficiency in MS Excel, prior SunSystems, SCM and HMS expertise desired
Leadership ability and strong sense of time management
Highly responsible and reliable with exceptional communication and presentation skills
