The JW Marriott Nashville Hotel
General Summary of Duties:
The Business Travel Sales Manager will handle all aspects of Sales for individual transient sales efforts by soliciting and developing new accounts to positively impact the JW Marriott Nashville’s revenue. The BTSM is responsible for creating and executing incentive programs to increase awareness of the property and loyalty to the hotel.
Examples of Duties (includes but is not limited to the following):
- Solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed business travel revenue goals through telephone prospecting, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication
- Professionally approach and communicate with current and prospective customers
- Maintain an active list of accounts to ensure continuous relationship development
- Provide exceptional customer service through relationship development, strategizing account development and creating quarterly plans that fully exhibit commitment and creativity to exceed customer expectations
- Maintain and secure repeat business through client satisfaction and loyalty
- Conduct site inspections, actively entertain, and personally interact with customers, as appropriate for transient travel development
- Maintain knowledge of industry and trends in market, particularly amongst competitor set
- Understand booking patterns, trends, high demand times, and events in the market
- Convey a strong belief in the hotel and confidently discuss hotel features, services and advantages
- Assist in implementing special promotions relating to direct sales segments, i.e. parties, sales blitzes, etc.
- Meet or exceed established monthly, quarterly and annual targeted sales goals and profit margins
- Communicate with internal business partners on upcoming group needs, VIP clients, meeting functions
- Participate in team brainstorming sessions, hotel staff events and other events as required for specific business situation, or as requested by Director of Sales & Marketing or General Manager
- Develop a full working knowledge of the operations of the hotel, including Food and Beverage, Guest Services and Reservations
- Use the hotel’s computerized sales management system to manage business, including (but not limited to); generating reports, entering business, blocking space and building accounts
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned
Position Requirements:
- Ability to speak, read, write and understand English
- Professional demeanor appropriate for a luxury environment
- Two (2) or more years of sales related experience
- Familiarity with hospitality industry practices required
- Advanced knowledge of market trends, positioning of hotel, amenities, brand, competition and key customers of the hotel
- Advanced level of producing business transient revenue through directly soliciting business via prospecting, making presentations, developing contracts, negotiating and closing sales
- Effective listening, verbal, written, negotiation and closing skills
- Ability to assess customer needs, understand market dynamics and prepare presentations/proposals tailored for individual customers
- Ability to compile facts and figures, analyze information and arrive at logical conclusions and sound business decisions
- Ability to meet/exceed expectations for prospecting calls, appointments, presentations, proposals and closes
- Strong professionalism, diplomacy, selling skills and work habits
- Ability to remain positive, resourceful and improvise while working in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure
- Organizational skills that result in accurate, timely and thorough work
- Must possess strong computer skills, including, but not limited to; Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and CI/TY
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in hospitality management, marketing, business or related degree preferred
