Job Description For Assistant Golf Course Superintendent
The candidate will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent ensuring the maintenance, operation, and management of the golf course and club properties.

Main Duties / Key Functions

Working closely with the Golf Course Superintendent in supervising the construction and maintenance of the golf course and club property
Supervising the maintenance and repair of department equipment
Training and development of Maintenance Crew staff
Operational Management Responsibilities

The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent assists the Golf Course Superintendent in managing and maintaining golf course properties, which may include:

The golf courses and club property
Maintenance equipment
Clubhouse grounds and landscaping
Other properties as specified by management.
Additional Functions

In addition, the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent typically assumes the following responsibilities:

Assist in the construction, renovation, and/or reconstruction of such properties, whether performed by maintenance staff or outside contractors.
Directs and supervises a staff of employees for the purpose of maintaining the properties.
Assists in planning all maintenance and project work, applying agronomic and administrative expertise to achieve organizational standards and goals.
Oversees the scheduling and routing of personnel and equipment to accomplish the work. The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent inspects the golf course and related areas to evaluate how well management standards are being achieved and coordinates with the Golf Course Superintendent to develop management programs.
The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent assists in inventory control and oversees equipment maintenance programs. Assists in budgeting, purchasing, and capital expenditure programs. Exercises cost control measures to keep operating and capital expenses in line with the approved budgets.
Keeps accurate and complete records on maintenance procedures, pesticide applications, etc.
The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent works closely with the Golf Course Superintendent in all aspects of the operation to ensure organizational goals are achieved.
Employment standards

Requires advanced knowledge of agronomy and turf grass management practices; a working knowledge of golf facility construction principles, practices, and methods; and a thorough understanding of the rules and strategies of the game of golf
Requires a high degree of administrative and executive ability, especially in terms of problem-solving and decision making
Requires excellent oral and written communications skills
Is expected to become familiar with current local regulations affecting the management of golf course operations (including, but not limited to, employment, safety and environmental standards, laws, and regulations)
Requires participation in continuing education opportunities such as seminars, workshops, correspondence courses, field days and trade shows.
Experience and Qualification:

5 years experience in a similar position at a reputed Golf Course and Diploma or certificate holder on agronomy or golf course maintenance.
Tournament preparation experience and knowledge of turf.
Computer literate with excellent communication skills. (English both written and oral).
Sound technical knowledge in all aspects of a golf course in a warm season environment
A good team leader with the ability to lead by example.
Good communication and interactive skills to lead a multicultural team.
Work Experience in the USA or Europe for a minimum of 6 months on a professional tour venue.
