Job Description

The Assistant Server’s focus will be to act as a support in all areas of Guest service delivery. In principle, their function will be threefold; to prepare serving stations and work areas for each meal period, assisting with the smooth execution of meal service during peak times, and offering continued support in preparation for the next meal period. The Assistant Server will be an integral part of the team.

 

To promote and maintain a positive working relationship at all times with all the ColleaguesTo report for duty punctually, in full uniform according to appearance and grooming standardsTo have a full understanding of the food offering in the outlet and be proficient in explaining each dish to the guest.To demonstrate a complete understanding of policies, procedures and set service standards as outlined in the Royal York Colleague Handbook and Resource GuideTo demonstrate a complete knowledge and understanding of all steps of service and duties and perform them to the set standards as outlined in the Job Task ChecklistTo assist all Guests (internal and external) with any inquiries or requests in a pleasant, helpful mannerTo follow all of safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverageAttend pre-shift, weekly and monthly meetings to continually improve the Guests experienceTo understand how to operate all the equipment used in the outletTo fully understand and follow the hotel’s recycling program and proceduresTo follow all of safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverageCarrying out any miscellaneous duties and responsibilities as requested by your Manager pertaining to quality service delivered in the restaurant.

Qualifications

 

Previous work experience in a restaurant/food and beverage settingExcellent interpersonal skills and a team player attitudeSmart Serve training program certification an assetMust be age of majority to serve alcoholic beveragesOTEC certificate an assetFlexibility with shifts of the Restaurant and Lounge dependant on business demandsWillingness to learn new concepts and ideasSmart Serve Training CertificationExperience working in Union EnvironmentMust be willing to work varying shifts
